oKoBoJi o9

We went to the cabin up in Okoboji, IA over Labor day. It was so much fun to be with family, not to mention spending time on the lake! Brandon's grandparents have a pontoon so we spent a lot of time sunbathing, sleeping, and relaxing!

Brandon swam with his dad, sister, uncle, and cousins and we tried to get Huck to swim but he turned out to be pretty scared of the water. We did get him in once but Brandon came out with a bunch of scratches!
Besides spending time on the boat, we went to the flea markets, walked downtown, played games, and ate nutty bars (my favorite!) Okoboji is one of my favorite places and we had so much fun!

American Idols Live 2009

My sister and I are obsessed with American Idol and we went to the concert last year for her birthday. We decided to keep with the tradition and go again this year!
The day all started out fine, we were going to leave after church and walk around the plaza in Kansas City and have dinner before going to the concert.
Well, half way to KC, I realized I had forgotten the tickets! OH NO! We called the box office and luckily they said we could just show our id and the card we used to purchase the tickets. WHEW! We thought we were out of the woods but then as we were headed back to the car to drive to the concert after dinner, I found that my keys were definitely not in my purse and definitely in the ignition still! AHH!
It was already 6 by this time and we had to get to the venue and get our tickets in an hour! We finally found a number for a locksmith and called and realized he wouldn't make it in time so we made an appt. to meet him there after the concert. So, we jumped in a taxi and made our way to the concert!

We were able to get our tickets just fine and we found our seats. Everything seemed to be going great until...
The lady beside me tapped my shoulder. I looked over to her and she said, "Do you realize that everyone behind you can see because you guys are standing up?" I graciously said sorry and went back to my concert. She again said, "are you not going to sit down? Are you okay with everyone behind you talking about you?" I again said I was sorry but we paid for our seats and we wanted to stand during this song! I started to ignore her but she would not give up and started to get in my face. She was threateningme and said, "Well, I am just going to exercise my right to stand here by you and bug you all night!" I kept ignoring her until she blew in my face! I turned completely around and said, "Excuse Me? Didd you just blow in my face?" She would not leave us along and started to make a scene so then I did feel bad for the people around us. I DID NOT want to give in to her but reluctantly sat down. Bethany went to one of the venue employees and asked if we were able to stand it that section...of course he said yes. So, we behaved (for the most part) but when one person stood up in that section, you better believe we did too! She didn't say anything for the rest of the night. GRR!!!!
The rest of the concert was so good and we had so much fun!
After, we wanted to see the idols at the meet and greet so we left the concert a little early and made our way outside. We got right up to the fence and were able to talk to, high five, and get pictures and autographs of the idols! We were sad that Adam (our favorite) wasn't able to come meet everyone due to a photo shoot...BOO! We did get to see about 7 of the top ten and I got Kris Allen (THE American Idol) to sign my cell phone! Haha!
We finally got back to the car close to midnight and paid an absurd amount of money for this guy to break into my car (which took about 30 seconds.) We started our journey back to Springfield and finally rolled into bed around 3:30...only to get up in 2 1/2 hours for work!

Girls Trip!

My friend, Krystal got married a couple weeks ago so me and five other friends were able to go out and see her on her big day! It was such a beautiful and classy wedding and the reception was so much fun!
After the wedding festivities were over, three of the girls and I went on a mini-vaca to Niagara Falls which was only about 2 hours away from Erie, where the wedding was! We went to the Canadian side and it was amazing!
We walked around the cute little city and had dinner at fun places!

We also rode the Maid of the Mist boat that went right by the falls! It was so exciting getting to see all my college friends again and we had a blast!

Home

Two weeks ago I was able to go back home to Colorado to visit my sister and brother-in-law and their three kids and my mom and dad who were back in the states for a bit visiting their new baby grandson (and all of us!) I was so nice to be able to see them again...one year is definitely TOO long! I also got to meet my newest nephew, Marley! He is so adorable and I am so glad I got to see him while he was still so tiny!
While I was there, two of my aunts, one uncle, one cousin, and my grandparents all came too! It was a packed house but it was so much fun to see all of them!

My family and I also took some professional family pictures while I was there! We have never done this so it was really fun! I was sad that my husband, Brandon couldn't be there but maybe we can photoshop him in! Haha!
Even though that week went by incredibly fast, I am so grateful to have been able to go and see all my family and friends!

Huckleberry

Well, we took the plunge and decided to get a puppy!  Brandon has wanted a boxer ever since he can remember and I fell in love with the breed a few years ago as a result of Brandon showing me an endless amount of puppy pictures!  We picked up Huck when he was just 7 weeks old - love at first sight!

He is now almost 4 months old and growing faster than ever!  He is a whopping 35 lbs. already!
Over the past couple months we have had our ups and downs with puppy-rearing.  He has done really well with potty training and is almost completely there. However, he loves to bite.  Although we know this is just a phase (hopefully), it has been exhausting trying to stay on top of him and make him know who's boss!  Despite the scratches and puncture wounds, we love our little guy so much!
